Junior KAWA is a youth service organization under KAWA and was formally launched in January of 2023 with preparation since August of 2022.
Junior KAWA started with five students and their mothers, and has, as of July 2024, nearly 80 members.
At Junior KAWA, we have multiple communities we support, from the local LA community to US military abroad. We have three primary areas of service: crafting origami with senior citizens, socializing with children who have disabilities, and making and donating paracords.
Our weekly and bi-monthly origami programs fosters connections between generations through teaching art at senior centers across LA. By providing socialization and company, as well as the mental stimulation origami promotes, we have been able to impact dozens of seniors's lives.
With Shane's Inspiration, a program that offers playtime for children of all abilites at playgrounds, we are able to socialize and interact with kids, often our age, through arts and crafts, music, and most importantly, play.
Paracords, also known as parachute lines, are used to create a lanyard that soldiers can untie and use in an emergency, and so far, we have delivered 16,642 lanyards (3,328 community service hours!) to Operation Gratitude.
Junior KAWA seeks volunteer activities that young people can do and events that make them feel rewarded and enthusiastic.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
